Synth pioneer Alan R Pearlman, creator of legendary instruments like the ARP 2500 and ARP 2600, died on January 6 after a long illness.

He was 93.

An electronics engineer who once worked for NASA on the Gemini and Apollo projects of the 1960s, Pearlman founded ARP Instruments in 1969. And the rest is musical history.
