Keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth is best known for his work with The String Cheese Incident, but he's also an acclaimed solo artist in his own right, with a new album entitled 50 set for release on March 2, 2018. Hollingsworth is also an avid home-brewer, and just announced a collaboration beer with SweetWater and Relix Magazine called Ground Score IPA, Limited Edition Dank Tank Brew. For these reasons and more, he's our Talent Scout Artist of the Week.

NAME: Kyle Hollingsworth

HOMETOWN: Baltimore, Maryland.

MUSICAL TRAINING: Towson State University in Maryland as a jazz performance major.

MY FIRST GIGS: Were in my living room, and then at The Loft in Baltimore.

MUSICAL INFLUENCES: As a child, I was immersed in my siblings' music, like the Beatles etc. As I grew, I discovered improvisational music including Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and even some “psychedelic rock“ at times .

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO RIGHT NOW: A wild array of things: Robi Botos, Bon Iver, LCD Soundsystem, and Teddy Wilson.

LATEST PROJECTS: I’m pretty pumped about my new solo album 50. It's the first recorded project to come out with my new lineup. It’s pretty rocking, yet funky. Light but heavy, relaxed yet raging!

FAVORITE KEYBOARDS AND WHY? Probably the Hammond organ. It has such a beautiful voice, and so much expression.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU? I want to keep growing and learning, and also try to expand my writing.

ADVICE TO THE NEXT GENERATION: Dive-in, take risks, practice and have fun. And drink great hoppy beer!
