We're proud to premiere Nashville-based singer/songwriter and pianist Jillette Johnson’s new track “Love Is Blind," from her upcoming new album All I Ever See in You Is Me, out July 28, 2017 on Rounder Records.
She gives us the backstory.
“I wrote ‘Love is Blind’ while I was living LA, getting ready to come to Nashville to make this record. I had left my whole life behind in New York, started a new one in the sunshine, and quickly there after got out of a relationship, which meant starting all over again again. I took myself to the desert to reflect on all the change, and out popped this song. To me, it's about the how the decisions we make set us on a course that we can't undo, no matter how hard we might long for the way things used to be. It's my take on the idea that you can't go home again.”
Produced by Grammy Award-winner Dave Cobb (Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton), All I Ever See in You Is Me delivers sparsely orchestrated songs focused around Johnson’s spirited piano work and vocals. The album was recorded at RCA Studio A—the historic Nashville space where Dolly Parton recorded “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You” in the same three-hour span.
