Storied session keyboardist and songwriter Donnie Fritts - known for his ties to the Muscle Shoals, Alabama music scene, died this week at the age 76.
From touring with Kris Kristofferson, to having his songs recorded by everyone from Dolly Parton to Sheryl Crow and the Rolling Stones, Fritts made an indelible mark on music. On the news of his passing, Alabama native Jason Isbell tweeted "Donnie Fritts was a legend back home, and a guide for many of us when we started writing and making music... when I met Kristofferson and Willie all I had to say was 'I’m a friend of Donnie Fritts.' Very proud to be able to say that."
We profiled Fritts back in 2016 on the even of the release of his album Oh My Goodness. He will be missed.
