Composer Jeff Beal Wins Emmy for 'House of Cards'


Composer Jeff Beal won the 2015 Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) for his music for the Netflix original series House of Cards starring Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright. This is the third year in a row that Beal was nominated for House of Cards. The composer was was also nominated this year for his main title music for CBS-TV's The Dovekeepers.

Beal became an in-demand composer after he received recognition for his score to the Ed Harris-directed film Pollock in 2001. He also created the music for USA Network's series Monk and the HBO series Carnivale.

In this video, Beal sits down at the piano and demonstrates the way he developed the parts of his House of Cards theme.
