The Keyboard Magazine family mourns the loss of friend and Billy Joel archivist Jeff Schock, who died this past week at the age of 64.

Schock shot our July 2016 cover photo of Joel and his Musical Director David Rosenthal, stopping soundcheck at Madison Square Garden to do it.

On his website, Joel writes, "Jeff Schock died suddenly Wednesday night at his home on Long Island. He was a generous spirit in our longtime musical family – ever the enthusiast, always optimistic. He loved the roar of the crowd and he took such pride in our success – [Even when we lost sight of what a miracle it all was – and still is.] His kinetic energy and his constant good cheer will be missed by all of us. He was a caring man and a dear friend. And it’s hard to say goodbye."

His work will live on.
