New revolutionary instruments from industry-leader AIR

Cumberland, R.I. (May 08, 2013)—AIR Music Technology has expanded their virtual
instrument offerings with the Vacuum Pro Polyphonic Analog Tube Synthesizer and
Loom Modular Additive Synthesizer. Vacuum Pro is a polyphonic analog tube
synthesizer that travels light-years beyond the original monophonic Vacuum, first
developed by the AIR team as part of the Pro Tools® Creative Collection from Avid®.
Loom is an entirely new modular additive synthesizer. AIR Music Technology is the
groundbreaking developer of acclaimed industry-standard virtual instruments and audio
processing tools.

Both Vacuum Pro and Loom are highly intuitive in design and place few technical
demands on the user, delivering a more inspiring and creative experience. Each
provides an array of sound-sculpting tools ranging from rapid, highly efficient sound
creation to zeroing in on most intricate of sound design tasks. The unique and scalable
workflow allows the creative potential of Vacuum Pro and Loom to continue to meet the
musician’s needs as they evolve. Vacuum Pro and Loom will be available first in the VST
and AU 64-bit formats, plus the RTAS 32-bit format. An AAX update is coming soon.

Vacuum Pro: Polyphonic Analog Tube Synthesizer

The “vacuum” part of the name Vacuum Pro relates to the six tube circuits that lend a
particularly analog flavor to each of the main synthesis modules—oscillators, filters,
mixer, etc. Vacuum Pro is totally unique; providing a modern, idealized vision of the
versatility and potential of analog synthesis, rather than attempting to isolate and
recreate just one particular moment from history. The smart knob model used in Vacuum
Pro is possibly the best implementation ever in a complex VI, and provides anyone—
from novice to pro—the ability to create incredible and unique instrument sounds with
lightening speed.

“Vacuum Pro is the dirtiest, hottest, and most revolutionary soft synth we've ever
created.” says Mario Reinsch, Senior Engineer at AIR. “We designed Vacuum Pro to
sound like the analog synth we always wanted; it isn't a copy or reproduction of a known,
classic analog synth; you're getting something that is truly unique and wonderful.”

Loom: Modular Additive Synthesizer

As an additive instrument, Loom can create sounds that extend far beyond the scope of
subtractive synths. Loom provides a vast array of unique sounds while providing total
control over every aspect of the instrument. Sound creation begins with 30 sound
modules, each with a distinct function—moving filter, octaver, repeater, second tone, etc.
These modules can be freely combined in up to 10 cells. Spectral modulation, extensive
envelope shaping, and multiple LFOs deliver deep control. While the advantages of
additive synthesis have long been understood, it is the powerful and effective Loom
interface that finally places this potential in the hands of today’s musicians and sound

Vacuum Pro and Loom each contain over 350 ready-to-play presets. With the majority of
these sound created by the AIR team, AIR has also enlisted the services of acclaimed
electronic musician and sound designer Richard Devine, who saw the instruments at
Winter NAMM and knew he just had to work on them. Richard has used his skills and
talents to contribute 100 custom-created patches for each instrument.

“I was really fascinated by the structure and UI design of Loom,” says sound designer
Richard Devine. “I knew it would be capable of creating some interesting timbres. I loved
the modular structure and its additive harmonic synthesis engine—which is what initially
sparked my interests with Loom. The sounds and control features of Loom are just
stunning. I have never come across another software synthesizer that offers both unique
synthesis and such wonderful controllability. For sound design applications, this synth is
simply a must have.”
