FP-60 Digital Piano
Streamlined piano with premium sound and built-in speakers for home and stage
Los Angeles, CA, September 14, 2017 — Roland announces the FP-60 Digital Piano, the latest addition to the award-winning FP series of compact digital pianos. The FP-60 features Roland’s advanced piano technologies for premium tone and feel, plus an onboard audio system with ample projection for performing in small venues. Many non-piano sounds are included as well, plus Bluetooth® audio/MIDI support for working with Roland’s Piano Partner 2 and other music apps on a smartphone or tablet. Offering top-level piano performance and easy portability in an attractive, streamlined design, the affordable FP-60 is an ideal choice for home playing, stage performing, and music education settings.
While sound quality and keyboard feel are often sacrificed in portable piano designs, that’s not the case with the FP-60. Roland’s respected SuperNATURAL Piano engine delivers the dynamic, expressive sound of an acoustic grand, with touch-sensitive overtone changes and 288 notes of polyphony for realizing authentic acoustic performances. The PHA-4 keyboard with escapement and Ivory Feel keys offers true grand piano touch, and features the latest sensing technology for unrestricted musical expression.
Via built-in Bluetooth, FP-60 users can enhance performances and practice sessions with their favorite mobile devices. Audio from a smartphone or tablet can be streamed wirelessly through the piano’s onboard speakers for playing along with favorite songs or music lessons from the web. Roland’s free Piano Partner 2 app extends the piano’s functionality even further with intelligent rhythm accompaniments, recording functions, and more.
The FP-60’s integrated audio system is specially designed to produce rich, room-filling sound, eliminating the need to carry an external sound system when playing in small venues. The speakers and integrated amplifiers have been carefully tuned for precise tonal reproduction, and dedicated speaker boxes engineered into the keyboard cabinet support full-range projection with impressive dynamic range. A convenient three-band equalizer is provided on the front panel, allowing players to quickly adjust the tone as needed to fit the room.
In addition to its core acoustic piano sounds, the FP-60 includes pro-quality electric pianos, strings, organs, and synths, giving performing players lots of versatility. Users can create layers and splits and store favorite sounds and settings in 30 user registrations for quick recall.
The FP-60 looks great in any setting, offering a stylish, understated appearance based on the award-winning design of the flagship FP-90. When paired with the optional KSC-72 stand and KPD-90 pedal, the instrument has a clean, contemporary upright look that’s ideal for home use, concert stages, and education environments. The KPD-90’s three-pedal configuration supports Progressive Damper Action, providing continuous response for traditional playing techniques.

Piano Partner 2 Version 2.0 for iOS and Android Mobile Devices
Exclusive companion app for Roland digital pianos updated with many new features
Roland announces Piano Partner 2 Version 2.0, a newly updated version of the free iOS and Android app for Roland digital pianos. The easy-to-use app enhances and extends the functionality of compatible Roland piano models, allowing owners to increase their piano enjoyment and musical development with digital notation, intelligent rhythms, and useful practice functions. The Version 2.0 update brings many new features to Piano Partner 2, including remote controller functionality, song recording, a Diary tool for tracking practice progress, and more.
Most of Roland’s latest pianos feature more than 300 built-in songs, including popular classical pieces. The Songs tool in Piano Partner 2 Version 2.0 provides access to the piano’s entire library by category. Users can select songs and control start/stop, part muting, and metronome on/off from their device’s display. The DigiScore Lite tool displays digital sheet music for the onboard songs, and pages turn automatically as the song plays. The user can practice each hand individually by muting the left- or right-hand part, adjust the tempo, and repeat song sections to work on specific areas.
The app’s Rhythm tool provides a fun way to develop timing and groove by playing along with a variety of music styles. The full band accompaniment automatically follows the player’s chords, offering the experience of playing with an ensemble. With the Version 2.0 update, the app now supports playing the drum part by itself for song creation, improvisation, and more.
Flash Card is an interactive game for developing ear-training and music-reading skills. In each session, the player is challenged to play a note that’s shown in the app or sounded from the piano, with an award given after five challenges.
With the new Remote Controller tool, users can select tones, adjust the keyboard mode, operate the metronome, and control other piano functions from their mobile device. Another feature added with Version 2.0 is the Recorder, which allows users to instantly capture their playing and check daily progress.
The new Diary feature offers a number of useful tools to support learning and development. Daily performances are captured and stored automatically in a song list, where they’re available for review and text comments. The Diary’s activity list continuously collects data from all the songs, providing statistics about which keys were used and the time and duration of playing sessions. Users can share stat summaries with family, friends, and teachers through Twitter and other social media sites directly from the app.
Piano Partner Version 2.0 will be available for free on the App Store and Google Play starting on September 29, 2017. The app communicates with a compatible Roland piano wirelessly via Bluetooth® (if supported by the piano), or wired with a USB cable. USB communication also requires the appropriate USB adapter for the iOS or Android device being used.
