Pulling All the Stops: Cameron Carpenter’s Next Big Things

As he continues to drive the touring digital organ ever closer to reality, Cameron Carpenter’s performance career continues to accelerate. He’s finding new territory for himself, boldly going where no organist - and sometimes, no one - has gone before. Here are just a few highlights from his packed upcoming schedule:

The BBC Proms, Royal Albert Hall, London UK

September 1 - 2, 2012

At one of the world’s most prestigious classical venues, Cameron will have a rare two-night solo debut: back-to-back musical intensity. Broadcast worldwide, it will include improvisations on the name BACH, movements from cello suites, and then, in an uncommonly epic closer, will include Cameron’s ambitious juxtaposition of the Chaconne (Bach-Busoni-Carpenter) with the Finale from Mahler’s Fifth Symphony, all for solo organ.

Berlin Philharmonie Residency, Germany

Sept 24, 2012

Moving his home base from New York to Berlin has paid off - while continuing to tour the U.S., Carpenter has built a second base in Europe. Berlin will be the capital of that base, with Cameron playing the organ in a Great Performers series and for the first time ever, the Berlin Philharmonie’s virtual Digital Concert Hall online. So, that’s Europe. Next up: Asia.

Suntory Hall, Tokyo, Japan

January 20, 2013

The greatest venue in Japan will feature Cameron, a gateway to a continent that could someday host the touring organ.

Disney Hall, Los Angeles

April 18-21, 2013

There’s a reason we said Cameron was "California dreaming" in our August 2012 cover story: Disney Hall has made a spectacular backdrop for his work, and will feature multiple nights, including a solo recital, next year.
