As we type this, the Musikmesse instrument show in Frankfurt, Germany begins its first day. Roland is announcing the little sibling--but not really little by any stretch--of the Jupiter-80, called the Jupiter-50 (or JP-50). Editor Stephen Fortner actually got an extensive hands-on sneak peek that we promised not to post until Musikmesse opened. In the videos below, we go through the basic architecture, clonewheel sounds, the extensive analog synth modeling, effects, and more. Could the JP-50 be the perfect one-stop shop for the heavily gigging pro or weekend warrior? Watch and decide.

Coming soon: A video about new goodies in the version 2 operating system for the Jupiter-80.
