Roland founder Ikutaro Kakehashi dies at 87

Ikutaro Kakehashi, the founder of Roland and an early MIDI pioneer, died this past weekend at the age of 87.
Kakehashi oversaw the development of groundbreaking instruments like the TR-808 drum machine, the Jupiter-8 polysynth, and many others.
He also received a technical Grammy Award in 2013 for his work in electronic music technology.
