The Flaming Lips

The Flaming Lips are, without a doubt, a force to reckon with in alternative rock. From their MTV-era hit "She Don't Use Jelly" through far more psychedelic sonic experiments cluminating in their collaboration with Peaches, Henry Rollins, and Stardeath and White Dwarfs on a top-to-bottom cover of Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon, their creative fearlessness has fueled a huge and devoted fan following. What's the role of keyboard instruments in creating their immersive and sometimes unnerving soundscapes? Our own Robbie Gennet sat down with Steven Drozd, Wayne Coyne, and Derek Brown to find out.
