imgWe recently got a sneak peek at Roland's comprehensive new hardware sound module, the Integra-7. Combining the "SuperNatural" acoustic, drawbar organ, and analog synth modeling of the Jupiter-80 with all of Roland's legacy SRX expansion-based sounds, it also features full 16-part multitimbral capability, a very deep and aesthetically pleasing iPad editor app, and independent surround panning of each multitimbral part.

Is this the return of the hardware sound module, a product category that for some time has been on life support? Check out the videos and decide for yourself.

Do you require expansion card slots INSIDE your studio computer?
No, because I use a laptop or "mini" machine and rely on USB and/or FireWire

I'd prefer expansion slots, but can live with workarounds like a PCI expansion chassis
