Lightning navigation (or, The Many Uses of a Held Enter Button) Korg Triton / Triton ExtremeTritons have a few timesaving navigation features that often go unnoticed. Try these out the next time you have an idea burning a hole in your brain and see if they don’t shorten the time between creative spark and raging fire. 1. The numeric keypad can be used to jump to specific pages in each edit mode. Check out the little numbered box in the upper right corner of the screen. To get to the effects page you can either press MENU and then touch the P8 box on the screen or “8” on the numeric pad. Once you’ve memorized a few page numbers, you’ll really blaze. 2. In the Velocity windows in Combi and Drum mode, if you hold Enter and play a note on the keyboard, you can set the velocity value based on how hard you play. 3. On the Combi split page and in Sampling, it’s really handy to be able to use the same procedure as in Step 2: select a part to assign, hold Enter and play a note to set (or change) the split point or to assign zones for multiple samples. 4. On the Drum Edit page (page 5 in Global mode), you can hold Enter and play a note to change that note’s assignment to the currently-selected drum sample. The other parameters remain the same, though, so it’s really useful and quick for applying your favorite settings to new drum sounds. |
