Synth Workshop Korg Triton SeriesManually triggering the drum parts in a drum arpeggio pattern. There’s a little-used mode of the Triton’s arpeggiator when playing drum arpeggiator patterns, called “Trigger As Played.” Most drum arp patterns start playing a whole groove whenever you play a key. But it doesn’t have to be that way — let’s explore. 1. In Program mode, select a drum program using Select By Category. 2. Press the Arp button and play a key — you should hear a complete drum groove playing. 3. Now go into Global Mode and select P6: User Arpeggio. 4. You’ll see that a drum arp is also called Fixed Note Mode. At the bottom of the screen the Fixed Note Mode is set to “Trigger All Tones.” This means whenever you press a key it will trigger all the drum parts at once. Change this to “Trigger As Played.” 5. Now when you press one key you’ll only get the pattern of one drum tone, the bass drum. Press and hold a second key and you’ll get the next part added, and so on. This works best when the Keyboard box is not checked so you don’t play any of the sounds live. Bonus TipPlay different amounts of notes and you can bring drum parts in and out at will. Even in Combinations where the drums are “hidden” off the keyboard this mode can be used — just set the arp pattern being used correctly in Global Mode and go for it! |
