The 2011 Audio Engineering Society convention returned to New York City to large crowds, Our own Jon Regen got the scoop on the latest and greatest instruments and recording gear, including the much buzzed-about Pro Tools 10 with new HDX hardware, and Moog's new analog ladder filter and Animoog synth app for iPad.

Do you require expansion card slots INSIDE your studio computer?
 No, because I use a laptop or "mini" machine and rely on USB and/or FireWire
 No, because I use Thunderbolt peripherals
 I'd prefer expansion slots, but can live with workarounds like a PCI expansion chassis
 Yes, I absolutely require that my main music machine have expansion slots
