Putting two virtuoso pianists head to head can create a veritable minefield, but here, jazz icon Chick Corea and acclaimed Italian pianist Stefano Bollani push each other to new musical heights. On the Ranger/Robin standard “If I Should Lose You,” the duo nimbly converses across tonal and rhythmic lines, and on “Blues in F” they combine childlike interplay with deep-pocketed grooves and dense chromatic harmonies. Orvieto is a 176-key classic. (ecmrecords.com)
