Pianist and composer Bill King has been cultivating a quiet storm in his native Canada, leading a crack band that evinces a sonorous blend of Latin, jazz, funk, and soul. His latest, Beat Street, finds the Toronto multi-instrumentalist on piano, Hammond organ, and synthesizer on a varied set of originals that pull from a wide range of infectious influences. Check out the scintillating Latin opener “Rhythm Express” for just one recorded example of what King and Co. are capable of. (7 Arts Entertainment | cdbaby.com/cd/bkrhythmexpress)
