BT Nominated for Grammy Award
|
NEW YORK, NY (December 6th, 2010)
– BT earns a GRAMMY nomination for “Best Electronic/Dance Album” at the 53rd annual GRAMMY Awards to take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA, on February 13th, 2011, for his sixth studio album,
THESE HOPEFUL MACHINES (Nettwerk/Black
Hole). Long regarded within the entertainment industry as one of the
forefathers of the music genre known as ‘trance,’ BT is as recognized
for writing proprietary computer code to suit his
creative needs as he is for selling-out nightclubs and festivals where
thousands of club-goers flock to exult in his music. BT has worked with
leading artists, including: Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, Madonna, Sting,
Seal and Britney Spears. BT has also worked
with dance music luminaries, including: Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Paul
Oakenfold and Paul van Dyk.
A classically trained musician who considers Igor Stravinsky, Claude Debussy and Sergei Rachmaninoff as influences, BT attended
the Berklee College of Music and has scored and had his music appear in major motion pictures, including (but not limited to):
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (2010); Pixar Presents Cars: Tokyo Mater (2008);
Stealth (2005); Monster (2004); Blade II (2002);
The Fast And The Furious and Lara Croft: Tombraider (2001);
Go (1999) and several others. The current single from
THESE HOPEFUL MACHINES is “THE EMERGENCY,” a song
which has enjoyed the #1 chart position on satellite radio and
broadcast/terrestrial radio in key U.S. markets. On December 2nd, leading software company, iZotope Inc., announced
the acquisition of BT’s own software company, Sonik Architects. The first releases from the newly formed iZotope/BT partnership will include BT’s proprietary Stutter Edit®
and Break TweakerTM software and SonifiTM iPhone application.
Born
Brian Transeau in Rockville, MD, BT’s aptitude for music and
mathematical theory evidenced themselves at an early age.
“Music is applied mathematics,” BT has said. Take falling rain: from
observing inherent rhythms in falling rain as a child, BT today utilizes
software he devised for nano-correcting the micro-rhythmic patterns of
rain into a subtle percussion to which the
mind responds on a subconscious level. BT’s groundbreaking studio
albums have become a blueprint for countless electronic musicians who
followed in their wake. Those albums include:
This Binary Universe (2006); Emotional Technology (2003), spawning the hit single, “Somnambulist (Simply Being Loved)”;
Movement In Still Life (1999); ESCM (1997); and
Ima (1995). Classic BT tracks, such as “Flaming June,” “Blue Skies”
ft Tori Amos and “Hip Hop Phenomenon,” are as lethal when unleashed on
packed dancefloors today as they were when first released. BT’s
revolutionary Laptop Symphony and other live performances
consistently connect with audiences, his soaring melodies and driving
beats speaking to each individual listener.
