AkaiConnect SDK allows Third-Party Developers to Write iPhone Apps that Work with Akai Pro SynthStation25 Keyboard Controller
Cumberland, R.I.
(Aug 20, 2010) –
Akai Professional, the
name synonymous with music production, announces the availability of
the AkaiConnect SDK (Software Development Kit). The AkaiConnect SDK
allows third-party developers access to put all the professional
controls and capabilities of Akai Pro’s SynthStation25 keyboard
controller to work in conjunction with their music apps for iPhone and
iPod Touch.
To coincide with the availability of the new SDK, Akai Pro also launched a special web site at
http://www.synthstationapp.com
with the latest information about the SynthStation25 keyboard,
SynthStation app, and the new AkaiConnect SDK. App developers can also
apply to become an Akai Pro developer free of charge.
Akai Pro’s
SynthStation25 is a 25-key MIDI keyboard, featuring a built-in dock for
the iPhone or iPod Touch. It gives users two octaves of
velocity-sensitive, synth-action keys, pitch and modulation wheels, and
physical buttons for the most commonly used controls including octave
up and down. The SynthStation25 also features a stereo pair of RCA line
outputs and a headphone output for connection to recording and sound
monitoring systems. The SynthStation25 also has a USB/MIDI output for
use as a controller for other MIDI software on Mac or PC and MIDI
hardware devices.
Software
developers interested in creating apps compatible with SynthStation25
can submit an application now at SynthStationApp.com. Once approved the
SDK is available to use license-free within a music app for iPhone or
iPod Touch.
“The SynthStation25 keyboard transforms the iPhone or iPod Touch
into a professional musical instrument,”
said Adam Cohen, Director of Business Development, Akai Professional,
“and with AkaiConnect SDK, now every music app developer has access to
this platform to extend the capabilities of their app.”
The AkaiConnect SDK is available now to approved app developers through the new website at SynthStationApp.com.
The
SynthStation25 will be available from pro audio and musical instrument
retailers soon. It has a U.S. Retail Price of $299.00 and an estimated
street price of $99.00.
iPhone and iPod Touch are trademarks of Apple Inc. registered in the U.S. and other countries.
